At Nutters Fastenings, we’re proud to support local talent, and one of our longest-standing sponsorships is with racing driver James Faultless of Faultless Motorsport.
Over the years, we’ve followed James’s progress with great interest, and the latest update certainly didn’t disappoint. It was a few weeks that had everything – strong finishes, mechanical setbacks, a seven-hour road trip, and one very poorly engine!
Kings Lynn – Battling the Conditions
The first stop was Kings Lynn on Saturday 16th May for the only shale meeting of the season.
The weather had other ideas, with a wet and slippery track making conditions particularly challenging. Despite that, James put together a solid set of results:
- 4th Place – Heat 1
- 7th Place – Heat 2
- 5th Place – Final
A strong performance in difficult conditions and a valuable haul of championship points.
The Long Journey North
Next came a trip to Scotland – a modest seven-hour drive each way!
The first Scottish meeting took place at the famous Knockhill Circuit on Saturday 23rd May.
Unfortunately, things didn’t start smoothly. During pre-race practice, James suffered a snapped rocker arm which caused the engine to misfire, preventing him from starting the opening race.
After some quick repair work, he managed to get back on track and produced an excellent recovery:
- 4th Place – Heat 2
- 3rd Place – Final
Not a bad comeback after the day’s earlier frustrations.
Drama at Cowdenbeath Racewall
The following day, James headed to Cowdenbeath Racewall, one of Scotland’s most challenging circuits.
Surrounded by unforgiving concrete walls, it’s a track that demands commitment and precision.
James got off to a great start:
- 2nd Place – Heat 1
- 5th Place – Heat 2
However, the final race brought heartbreak.
While competing strongly, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure, spectacularly blowing up and sending plumes of white smoke into the air along with various engine components onto the track.
As racing weekends go, it was certainly one to remember.
Back to the Workshop
While the Scottish trip delivered a mixed bag of results, the overall weekend was still an enjoyable one, and there were plenty of positives to take away.
The focus now shifts to getting the car repaired and race-ready again.
A replacement engine is already being fitted ahead of the next meeting at Buxton, where James will be hoping for a smoother weekend and another strong points haul.
